What I enjoy most about teaching is being able to actively listen to each child as they express their day-to-day thoughts, needs, interests and emotions. I look for every opportunity to provide positive reinforcement to build their self esteem, so they think of themselves as capable and competent, and develop the joy of learning.

Connie Pickrell graduated from the University of Illinois/Champaign with a degree in Business and a concentration in Marketing. She spent over 30 years with the Chicago Tribune as a Major Accounts Manager of that company’s highest profile national advertising clients. Her children attended WPSN in the early 90’s. Throughout her career, Connie volunteered her time with the Boy Scouts of America, Junior League of Chicago, and the Girl Scouts of America. Connie and her husband have lived in Glencoe for over 25 years. Connie’s hobbies are: maintaining a daily walking regiment, traveling, reading (she’s been a member of a Glencoe book club for 16 years), spending time with her family, and watching PBS.
