Rachel Gubman

Rachel Gubman

I joined WPSN after more than 25 years as an early childhood educator. In my brief tenure at WPSN I learned more about children and teaching than I had in decades. My colleagues were extraordinary and I had enormous support from parents. My personal ‘Reggio Journey’ began here as I learned what it truly means to respect the intelligence of young children. I look forward to continuing that journey.

–Rachel Gubman, Director Emerita

Rachel Gubman joined the WPSN staff in 2002 as a teacher. Her B.A. is in Child Development from Cornell University, and her M.A.T. from Bank Street College of Education. As a student teacher supervisor, Head Start consultant, and program administrator she had many opportunities to work with a wide range of early childhood programs. Although she loved teaching 3s and 4s at WPSN, she was honored and challenged by the opportunity to take on the role of Interim Director. Her current title, “Emerita” means simply that although she has moved on (to California!) she will continue to consult and support the work of this special school.
