Getting your children to play independently

Writer: Winnetka Public School NurseryWinnetka Public School Nursery

While it would be GREAT to see our kids play more independently right now while we're all stuck at home, now might be especially hard to be away from mom and dad. Here's some ideas to get the process started, while keeping in mind that we might be seeing regression of skills during this stressful time. When kids demonstrate regression, don't sweat it. Those skills will come back online when they are feeling like their confident selves again!

WPSN Toddler Explorer Co-Teacher and Infant Mental Health Specialist Molly Pope answers some of our community's questions and concerns during this quarantine period. At WPSN we recognize that as we all find ourselves grappling with this new normal, many of us have wonderings, questions about parenting, and challenges that we would like support with. Whether or not you asked the question, we hope that you might benefit from the answer. Feel free to submit your own question on this anonymous google form, or send Molly an email directly (molly.pope@wpsn.org).
